The Julie Riese Memorial Scholarship (Special Education) is $1,000 and available through the Fond du Lac Area Foundation for educational purposes.

Julie spent more than 30 years teaching special education in the Fond du Lac School District before retiring in 2016. She was the head volleyball coach at Fond du Lac High School from 1986-2012. Julie was also a coach and director for the Fond du Lac Fusion Volleyball Club from 2002-2019. Julie was inducted into the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Fond du Lac Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. Through her teaching and coaching, Julie touched and affected the lives of many young people in our community. Julie passed away on April 19, 2019 following a courageous 11-year fight with metastatic breast cancer.

The Julie Riese Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a male or female senior special education student at Fond du Lac High School who intends to further her education at a two-year or four-year accredited college.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES:

Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Scholastic achievement in high school: A minimum of 2.00 grade point is required.
  2. Participated in the special education program at Fond du Lac High School.
  3. Personal Statement will be deciding factor among students having met both requirements named above.

APPLICANTS MUST:

Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:

1. Be a senior at Fond du Lac High School.

2. Be furthering their education at a two-year or four-year accredited college.

3. Meet requirements listed in Section II.

4. Return application on or before April 1st.
