Fond du Lac Firefighters - Local 400 awards an annual scholarship to Fond du Lac County high school seniors who will be furthering their education toward a career in firefighting OR any Fond du Lac County resident currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Technician program.  Josh Polhamus was a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department who was killed in an automobile accident on August 24, 1994.  He was an ordinary, down-to-earth person who exemplified a great work attitude showing commitment and dedication to his career as a firefighter.

Josh’s memorial fund has been converted into a scholarship fund in hopes of contributing to some individual the financial help needed to enter into a firefighting career.  It is our dream that this scholarship may help restore to firefighting that which Josh’s loss has left void.


A $500 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:
A. Personal qualifications
Scholastic ability
Written essay
Community involvement


A. Legal resident of Fond du Lac County
B. Submit a CERTIFIED high school transcript
