FDL Area Foundation Awards over $100,000 in Grants

The Fond du Lac Area Foundation recently concluded its first of two grant cycles.  There were 25 grants allocated to 21 organizations in the traditional grant cycle totaling $67,200.  There were additionally another 3 Impact Grants allocated totaling $36,100.  In all, $103,300 was granted back to Fond du Lac community non-profit organizations.  These grants were made in the fields of health, human service, the arts, the environment, education, and youth.  “Our Boys & Girls Club is truly blessed to have community partners that generously support our mission like the Fond du Lac Area Foundation does. Because of this support, we are able to purchase the necessary supplies and materials to provide the children in our community who need us most with life enhancing after school and summer programs. Without these supplies and materials, we would not have the capability to provide the quality programs that have the greatest impact on the lives of our members," said Ryan Scheel, Chief Professional Officer at the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac.    Andrea Welsch, Executive Director of the Children's Museum of Fond du Lac said, "We are so fortunate for the opportunity to work with the FDLAF to increase access to wonderful family learning experiences for children in our community!"

All of these grants are made possible by donors creating unrestricted funds to support the charitable needs of our community.  The Foundation has two grants cycles every year with deadlines of January 15th and July 31st.  There are consistently two to three times more requests that come in than dollars that are available to allocate.  The Foundation relies on its experienced and knowledgeable Board of Directors to review and carefully make allocations to these valuable organizations.  "Each year, our volunteer board is faced with the tough task of trying to meet as many requests as they can.  However, each year the need far outweighs the amount of dollars available.  We hope that people will consider starting Unrestricted Funds with the Fond du Lac Area Foundation to help us to continue to serve not only the needs, but also the strengths of our great community," said Sandi Roehrig, Executive Director of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation.

Anyone may establish a fund at the Fond du Lac Area Foundation.  A minimum of $10,000 is required for a named fund, however an Acorn Fund can be started for as little as $1,000.  This fund can help you support all the various charities you care about all from one place.  You can also start a fund in honor or in memory of a loved one.  You can teach your children and grandchildren about the importance of giving back.  Also, anyone can give to any of our 275 funds at any time.  The Foundation staff would like to work with you to help you achieve your charitable dreams, no matter how big or small.  To learn more, please call us at (920) 921-2215 or visit us at www.fdlareafoundation.com
