SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Applicant must be a member or the immediate family of a full dues paying member of Local Lodge #1947.  A family member may be defined as a spouse or children, including stepchildren or legally adopted children. As of their 25th birthday children are no longer eligible.  The applicant may attend any college or technical college in the U.S.  A laid-off member in good standing, or family member, will be eligible for three years from the date of lay-off if they are considered to be a regular full-time employee.  Children will be eligible if the parent died and the parent had two years of "continuous good-standing membership" at the time of their death.  Children will be eligible if the parent died and the parent had two years of "continuous good-standing membership," understood to be a period of membership during which the member has kept their full monthly dues current, at the time of their death. Children of retirees are eligible if their union affiliate is a member in good standing at the time of their retirement. Members being reimbursed from Mercury Marine are not eligible for this scholarship.  Applicants must reapply each year to qualify for renewal.  Scholarships are available to high school seniors, college students, or those eligible applicants who return to college.  All decisions made by the scholarship committee are final.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

A. Children must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher for high school or college. (Verified by submission of their most recent certified transcript, including first semester grades of year of application)

Lodge member or spouse returning to school must have high school diploma or equivalency.

Scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by random drawing by Local Lodge #1947.  Drawing will be held at a monthly union meeting.
