AAUW (American Association of University Women) Elizabeth Waters Scholarships are available to senior female students graduating from Fond du Lac High School, St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, and Horace Mann High School.
Elizabeth Waters, an 1881 graduate of Fond du Lac High School, devoted her life to education. She was a high school German teacher, a Fond du Lac school administrator, and served on the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Always a champion of equal rights, she continually sought greater educational opportunities for women.
The Fond du Lac Branch of AAUW elected to establish scholarships in 1924 to support and encourage female students choosing to pursue a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
The AAUW Elizabeth Waters Scholarship check is sent to the recipient's chosen college and made payable to the school upon written proof of enrollment.
Scholarships are at least $1,000 each.
